Grapeview Public School

Project Summary

The need for a new elementary school in West St. Catharines was identified and the Board decided to proceed with a new school to serve Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. Baker and Elmes Architects were the project architects on this project. Construction commenced July 1991 and was completed in August 1992.

The school consists of 14 classrooms, Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten rooms, a 40-place Daycare facility, gymnasium and change rooms.  The building is entered through a large square lobby adjacent to the gymnasium. The classroom wings consist essentially of 4 rooms grouped around a 6 metre square meeting place that receives natural light from skylights and has sloped ceilings. The classrooms themselves have bay windows and a number also have sloped ceilings
