Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technologist

Quartek has a need for a technologist to work in its mechanical and electrical departments to assist in developing  solutions, designs, drawings and documentation.  In this role you will work closely with engineers, planners, architects and other technologists on various projects as part of our mechanical and electrical engineering team.  You will have the opportunity to develop as a mechanical and electrical engineering technologist while acquiring a unique skill set in integrated design.

As a member of the Quartek team, the successful candidate will provide CAD support on projects and act as a technical knowledge leader within the group. The role requires the ability to build strong rapport with our customers, as well as assume the responsibility of delivering accurate, complete, high quality work.



Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or senior designer, and subject to adequate training where applicable:

  • assist with the preparation of construction documents and specifications.
  • prepare accurate CAD drawings from mark-ups and instructions provided by architects, engineers, designers and senior drafting personnel.
  • apply office CAD standards to drafting assignments (layers, line weights, styles).
  • coordinate detailed design with design team members, including external team members.
  • ensure work product meets high quality standards, applicable design criteria and codes, and agreed schedules.
  • take responsibility for own work – accuracy, quality, deadlines and communication.



  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or certificate
  • excellent working knowledge of drafting with AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is an asset
  • good understanding of building construction and basic mechanical building systems
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
